<p><strong>Try these strategies to chase away your insomnia and wake up refreshed:</strong></p>
<p>1.	<strong>Keep the lights off.</strong> Even small lights can affect your body&#8217;s natural ability to determine night from day. Turn off all the lights when it&#8217;s time for bed, including nightlights, bathroom lights, and computers. Sometimes even the neon numbers from your alarm clock can be bothersome. </p>
<p>2.	<strong>Wind down at night.</strong> Avoid trying to transition straight from an activity to sleep time. This can cause your mind to race continuously. Approximately 30 minutes before you go to bed, do something calming in order to ease your mind. <p>In the summer, it&#8217;s easier to feel better about life. The warm weather, casual feeling of the season and endless recreational opportunities bring with them an excitement about life that&#8217;s hard to find in any other season. Use this positive momentum to your advantage to learn a skill that will fuel your happiness in any season. </p>
<p><strong>Getting Ready to Meditate</strong></p>
<p>Meditation is a very personal thing. Some people meditate in groups. But when you meditate alone, you may experience fewer distractions and a richer experience as a result. A backyard lounge or hammock is a great place to contemplate where you are and the direction your life is headed on a warm summer evening.</p>
<p>Sit comfortably or lie down to prepare your body for meditation. Once you begin, the flow of your contemplation is interrupted if you have to move around or adjust to a more comfortable position.</p>
<p>Pay attention to your breathing. Breathe from your belly and not your chest. Take slow, deep breaths. The more you practice, the better you&#8217;ll become at deep breathing. Proper breathing is the key to relaxing your body and opening your mind to experience the benefits of meditation. </p>
<p>How you meditate will have a lot to do with what feels right to you. The goal of any meditation session is to feel centered and relaxed. If you relax and let go, your spirit will instinctively move toward a meditation style that&#8217;s right for you.</p>
<p><strong>Supplies</strong></p>
<p>Like meditation itself, the supplies you&#8217;ll need are largely a matter of personal preference. It&#8217;s okay to experiment with different ideas until you find what works best for you. Here are some suggestions for things you might want to use in your meditation:</p>
<p>•	A religious object or symbol that means something to you<br />
•	Candles or incense that provide an aromatherapy effect<br />
•	Music or white noise for a calming effect<br />
•	A blanket, pillow, stuffed toy, or similar object that gives you comfort</p>
<p><strong>What If It&#8217;s Not Working?</strong></p>
<p>At first, meditation can feel a bit awkward. It&#8217;s easy to get distracted. If you continue to practice until you find what works for you, however, you&#8217;ll find that meditation calms your mind and supports the attainment of the peace you crave. </p>
<p>What matters most in meditation is how it makes you feel. If a particular technique feels uncomfortable or leaves you without a feeling of peace, it may be the wrong technique for you. The good news is that you can keep that peace all year round.</p>
<p>Spring provides something outwardly soothing to focus on. But you can also maintain inner tranquility, even if the things around you are going crazy. Everyone is different, but that springtime feeling can be a part of your experience in any season of life.<br />
<strong><br />
Keeping Peace Inside Your Home</strong></p>
<p>Your home is the place you come to unwind after a long, stressful day. Whether you live alone or with others, you want your home to invite you in to relax and feel at peace. </p>
<p>When you live with others, you may feel a lack of serenity when you come home. Your family&#8217;s noise, a rambunctious pet, or too much clutter can cloud your mind and keep you from the harmony you deserve. Find a room where you can be by yourself to relax and rejuvenate. Insist that others respect this private space. </p>
<p>If you have small children, establishing a private space for yourself can be a challenge. A room to yourself (with a door you can lock) is ideal. You can recapture the peace in your home, though, even if all you have is a small corner of a room that is all your own. </p>
<p>Peace comes from what&#8217;s around you, but it also comes from inside you. Inner stillness is something that you choose to keep, and only you can choose to give it away.</p>
<p>In order to help you practice peace, try these suggestions: </p>
<p>•	Breathe deeply from your abdomen to relax your mind and body.<br />
•	Listen to soft, calming music that you enjoy.<br />
•	Play a game that alleviates stress.<br />
•	Watch a funny movie and laugh out loud.<br />
•	Eat something soothing (in moderation) like chocolate or ice cream.<br />
•	Cuddle with a soft blanket, stuffed animal, pet or a sleeping child.<br />
•	Use room sprays or candles that make your surroundings smell pleasant.<br />
•	Drink a cup of mint tea or another calming drink.  </p>
<p><strong>Keeping Peace Elsewhere &#8211; Taking It With You</strong></p>
<p>Remember that peace is a choice. Stressful situations occur from time to time. How you respond determines the level of serenity you feel inside.</p>
<p>The quiet relaxation of spring can be yours in any season. Take a few deep breaths and stop for a moment to notice the beauty around you. If things around you are chaotic, it&#8217;s okay. They&#8217;re only things around you. They aren&#8217;t you.</p>
<p>The chaos that surrounds you can only overcome the harmony within you if you allow it to do so. You can feel peaceful when the rest of the world appears to be falling apart. With a little practice, you can easily keep your peace in any situation. Soon, you&#8217;ll find that the peace of spring is with you all year long.</p>

<p>Although names like Yanni, Dido, Ariel or Enya might not ever be listed among top traditional yoga music artists, they are popular in relaxation music for Westerners. For many U.S.-based practitioners, the availability of music by these artists has meant an abundance of modern alternatives to meet their own cultural preferences and a contemporary entranceway into an enlightened art.</p>
<p>Contrary to what many have probably expected, yoga is not always practiced in the same ways as the ancient (or modern) Hindu spiritual practices. The fast pace of U.S. life has created a strong need for ways in which the average working American can relax. Yoga &#8211; which teaches practitioners how to breathe and relax through a series of postures &#8211; now gives people a way to slow down. It is a fitness art that allows for honoring tradition while keeping pace with modern times.</p>
<p>It should also be noted that yoga has no goal of converting its practitioners to Hinduism. Granted, much of the traditional music of yoga has origins in this spiritual faith and sounds a lot like the religious music that accompanies worship. Since 1500 B.C., Hinduism followers have used the music to help them follow a path to enlightenment. Outside of the religion, however, practicing is a way to stay fit. The standard meditation postures involved in yoga make you stronger, more flexibility and give you more endurance. Additionally, yoga has its health benefits: less stress and lowered heart rate and blood pressure.</p>
<p>When the U.S. practitioner begins to look for music to accompany his rituals, he will probably not look for names like Guru Ram Das or Mool Mantra. He will look for familiar names or names that would be suggested in his own culture. Guru Ram Das and other similar artists use the instruments that have always been used in both Hindu and yoga music: the santoor, flute, sitar and sarangi, for example. Their music also makes use of lyrics that come across a lot like chanting and invoke the sacred. Music as a universal relaxation technique has not been around as long as the Hindu worships music.</p>
<p>The ancient sounds of Hindu do not have to be present for music to qualify as yoga music. The main requirement is that the music helps you to relax. The number of people in the U.S. practicing yoga has forced a shift to offer alternatives. The Yoga Journal reports that more than 15.8 million people in the nation practice yoga (&#8220;Yoga in, America&#8221; study, 2008). Of those who do not practice, 18.3 million indicated they are interested in practicing yoga. The surge in interest is not the only thing that has driven a shift for music. The yoga market is a $5.7 billion industry. This kind of buying power is sure to capture the interests of vendors and drive competition and variety.</p>
<p>New Age, alternative jazz, fusion, sound art, classical and inspiration-lyric pop art have become popular choices for <a target="_new" href="http://yoga101.net/yoga-music/">yoga music</a>. In fact, one of the things that have become most attractive about <a target="_new"http://yoga101.net/yoga-music/">yoga relaxation music</a> is its ability to transcend culture and allow for broad preference. It honors what has always existed in tradition and leaves room for modern times to make a lasting imprint, as well.</p>

<p>If so, it&#8217;s comforting to know that you can ease feelings of anxiety by understanding your worries and fears and taking action to get to the root of them. One of the prime natural methods to easing anxiety is the use of meditation. </p>
<p>Meditation is a basic self-help technique that can get you in better touch with yourself. It also relieves stress, relaxes your body, and calms your mind.</p>
<p><strong>Getting to the Root of Your Anxiety</strong></p>
<p>Anxiety is a scary thing because it&#8217;s your body&#8217;s reaction to a fearful situation, except anxiety can form when there&#8217;s no perceived threat. You may even fall into a pattern where you&#8217;re afraid of the fear itself, so you avoid situations that have brought out anxiety in the past.</p>
<p>However, you&#8217;ll soon find that avoiding life does nothing to help you solve your challenges. You can enjoy much better results by figuring out the real causes of your feelings of anxiety. Participating in counseling or group therapy situations may help you understand these feelings. Another way to get to the root of your feelings is by practicing meditation. </p>
<p><strong>Starting Out With Meditation</strong></p>
<p>There are different ways you can approach a meditative practice. You can start by just picking a time everyday when you can calmly be alone without distractions. Begin your meditation by taking deep breaths and focusing only on each breath as it goes in and out.</p>
<p>On a particularly stressful day, you might have more difficulty focusing on your breath. The thoughts of whatever is stressing you may keep getting in the way. When this happens, acknowledge the thought and then go back to concentrating on your breath. Eventually, you&#8217;ll feel your mind grow calm.</p>
<p>As you calm your mind, begin purposefully taking notice of your thoughts. All you must do is notice them, and then return your attention to your breath again. If any thoughts make you uncomfortable or tense, relax your muscles and then focus on your breath again.</p>
<p>Try not to stress yourself out further by getting frustrated with the meditation process. As you continue to practice, it will get easier, and you&#8217;ll look forward to your relaxation sessions. </p>
<p><strong>Maintaining Your Practice</strong></p>
<p>Meditating will help you become fully aware of the present moment. Remind yourself to spend a portion of every day in the present so you&#8217;re not burdened by past and future stress. With regular practice, you&#8217;ll be able to expand the amounts of time that you stay in the present. </p>
<p>By continuing to meditate on a consistent basis, you&#8217;ll begin to notice your true self. You can discover a lot about your life by maintaining awareness of the present moment. You&#8217;ll also notice the way your body reacts to stress and anxiety and can take measures to counteract it.</p>
<p><strong>When Meditation Isn&#8217;t Enough</strong></p>
<p>Although meditating can go a long way toward easing your feelings of anxiety, sometimes meditation practice alone may not be your complete solution. In these situations, don&#8217;t hesitate to ask for help. There are many treatment options that include other natural methods, counseling services, and even medications.</p>
<p>With meditation and other methods, if necessary, you can make your feelings of anxiety become a faint memory of the past. Be proactive about creating a life free from fears or worries, and start meditating today so you can look forward to a bright future!</p>

The heartbeat is required to pump blood throughout the body. Blinking moistens and cleans the eyes. Breathing is necessary for life. Have you heard of Healing Breath? You may be surprised to know how using this type of breathing can be beneficial.</p>
<p>The Healing Breath is much more than the breathing you do every day. It is basically learning to control your breath by using both your mind and your body. </p>
<p>Many people don’t realize how their breathing is shallow and possibly doesn’t provide the oxygen the body needs. In fact, how you breathe while you’re sleeping is entirely different from how you breathe while you’re awake. That may explain why you feel more rejuvenated after waking up than during the remainder of the day.</p>
<p>Scientists have begun to realize the importance of breathing technique in helping the body run properly. Depending upon which breathing technique you learn, you may find the following and other conditions improve:</p>
<p>* Asthma<br />
* Bronchitis<br />
* Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)<br />
* Panic attacks<br />
* Rhinitis (Runny nose)<br />
* Sinusitis<br />
* Snoring/Sleep Apnea<br />
* Hay fever or other allergies<br />
* Depression<br />
* Handling pain</p>
<p>Ayurvedic Pranayama breathing is very similar to some other breathing techniques. This one, however, is very simple to practice, doesn’t require you to use visualization, and can be practiced nearly anywhere.</p>
<p>The Healing Breath in this format is completed in three different parts, all regulated to a pattern of ‘1:4:2’. Begin by inhaling for the count of one, hold your breath for 4 counts, and exhale for the remaining two counts. Those beginning the Healing Breath begin using higher rates, but the ratio remains the same. For instance, inhale to the count of 4, hold for the count of 16, and exhale for the count of 8. The ratio remains stable.</p>
<p>As you practice this breathing technique and your breathing becomes stronger, you can increase the ratio to 6:24:12 and then to 8:32:16 as you improve further. When you’re first learning this technique, you may want to use a clock with an audible “tick-tock” to help you keep your breaths to one second intervals. Be careful to remain focused during these exercises so you keep your ratio.</p>
<p>Since proper breathing is so important – inhaling which is taking oxygen into the body (purifying the blood) and exhaling which releases waste products and toxins – it’s easy to see why learning the Healing Breath is something to consider. After learning how to breathe properly you may find many of your health issues are reduced or gone entirely.</p>
