Breathing Meditation Techniques – Easy Meditation Techniques

By Trevor John

Breathing meditation techniques are amongst the simplest meditation techniques we can learn. After all, you already know how to breathe! So learning some breathing meditations qualifies as learning easy meditation techniques.

Start by finding a quiet place. A place where you are unlikely to be disturbed. Somewhere you can practice your breathing meditation technique quietly.

Then start to pay attention to your breathing. It’s something we take for granted, yet breathing gives us vital oxygen and learning some easy meditation techniques by paying attention to breathing is simple to do and very beneficial.

When you first start with these breathing meditation techniques, it’s probably best if you are sitting down. Whilst you can perform breathing meditation standing up, start out by sitting down. You can always adjust your technique once you get used to things.

Take a long, slow, deep breath in. Notice the air filling your lungs. Notice the feelings you get as you breath in. Then, once your lungs are full of air, hold your breath. Not for long, just a second or two will do fine. But just hold your breath and again notice the sensations that you feel. Finally, slowly and surely, breath out. Exhale all the air that you have breathed in. this process should take about the same time as it took for you to inhale.

Then repeat the process.

You’ll find that after five or ten of these deep breathing exercises, you’ll start to feel calmer and more relaxed.

The great thing about this easy meditation technique is that you can do it almost any time, any place. It’s even a meditation technique kids can learn. They’ll find it fun to concentrate on their breathing – just make sure that they don’t get too competitive.

So there you have it, a breathing exercise that you can use as a breathing meditation technique. It sounds simple – because it is simple – but you’ll be truly amazed at how this simple free meditation technique can change your life for the better.
