Classical Music Reduces Stress – The Easy Way to Recharge Your Brain And Relax Your Mind

By Tania Gabrielle French

The scientific evidence is growing by leaps and bounds: music helps physical changes which help heal the body. Find out how to relax and rejuvenate using the calming sounds of classical music.

“The physiological benefits have been measured. Music reduces blood pressure, the heart rate, and hormones related to stress.” – Dr Rosalia Staricoff, London, England

Your brain is a 3 pound supercomputer. It’s the command center of your life and is involved in everything you do.

It is more complex than any computer we can imagine.

You have 100 billion nerve cells in your brain and every one of them connects to other nerve cells. Did you know that your brain has more connections in it than there are stars in the universe?

Just like your computer needs optimizing by clearing out unwanted clutter, your brain does too. When you optimize your brain regularly, you become the best you can be at any task – relationships, leisure, sports, creative thinking.

The first step to optimizing your brain is to protect it. From sleep deprivation. From injury. From pollution. And especially – from stress.

For example, many chemicals are toxic to your brain. Alcohol, drugs, nicotine, much caffeine, and many medications decrease blood flow to the brain. When blood flow decreases, your brain can’t work efficiently.

A UCLA study showed that cocaine addicts had 23% less overall blood flow compared to the drug free group. There’s more. When they measured cocaine addicts who also smoked cigarettes, blood flow dropped to 45% less. Chronic marijuana users had a whopping 85% less activity in their temporal lobes. Those lobes oversee memory and mood stability.

Same goes with sleep deprivation. If you sleep less than 8 hours a day on a consistent basis your brain will have less activity.

Stress is one of the greatest limiters to how well your brain functions. The hormones created while you’re under stress are VERY toxic to your memory centers. In fact, brain cells actually DIE with prolonged stress!

That’s why scientists are realizing that managing stress effectively is absolutely Crucial to good brain function.

Want a healthy, happy life? In a nutshell, reduce stress.

Thing is, it’s hard to avoid stress completely. So, getting de-stressed and de-compressed the easy way is essential. High frequency classical music has been proven to do just that. What makes taking a dose of it a day so easy is that you can play it in the background while you’re working, playing or sleeping.

It’s the easy-does-it remedy for stress-elimination.

The great things in life, like exercising, relax and recharge At The Same Time. That’s the difference between caffeine and high frequency music – the soft drinks and coffee give you an artificial high followed by a low. The music gives you a natural high plus relaxation and no negative, unhealthy side effects.

Stop filling up your low energy moments with toxins. Listen to classical music and have your brain fully optimized in no time!

Tai Chi Versus Stress

Life is a stressful series of events wrapped in one package. All around us are contributing factors to add stress in our lives. Even the littlest things can add a certain amount of stress. But it doesn’t matter if your life is full of stress because it is one factor that you can’t shrug away unless you are numb. The one thing you can do to kill stress is recognizing what causes it to arise inside of you then do coping mechanisms to lessen it. That’s when Tai Chi comes in.

Stress can be harmful. So before it gets worse, you must block it. Stress can have its advantages because you can learn how to cope but the moment you can’t deal with life’s stresses, you must do something about it. Because once stress enters the body, it stays there and releases certain toxins that are very dangerous to the body.

How will you know that you are stressed? First, your body will react differently. You can experience headaches, breathlessness, chest pains, sleeping problems, feels sick or dizzy, sweating so often, muscle spasms or cramps, and lack of appetite. Somehow, when this occurs, you will feel more irritable, aggressive, neglected and depressed.

The way you behave is also affected which shows through inability of showing the way you truly feel, crying frequently, has difficulty in making decisions (even the easy ones), trying to avoid situations and somehow, denying that there is a problem.

If you have experienced few of these, then you are indeed incurring a difficult level in your life and needs some help to eliminate it.

Tai Chi is very effective in relieving stress. It somehow has this magical feeling in it that contributes a certain magical and renewing feeling. It can battle out stress and further enhance a person’s well-being.

For beginners, there will be a certain level of awkwardness but as time passes, it diminishes the feeling. Alright, before giving into the feeling, you must first forget every worry once you walk into the door where will perform your Tai Chi activities. Then work your way through and recognize the benefits of what Tai Chi is doing for you.

Tai Chi can reward you with the most astonishing feeling of self-sufficiency and relaxation. It will keep your mind at ease and will make you deal with life more positively. Whoever practices Tai Chi are rewarded with improved flexibility and balance together with stable breathing, stronger lymphatic and circulatory system, it also reduces hypertension. In an overall performance, you will manage to feel an overall greatness and well-being.

Tai Chi can reduce and somehow eliminate the harmful effects of stress. The marketplace is very competitive and the retention of superior quality employees can be made possible if only Tai Chi can be incorporated. This will not only have a positive effect on the employee but for the whole company as well.

What does Tai Chi do to decrease stress flowing inside the body? It increases the vitality of every cell composing the entire element of the body. There are long term benefits like increased energy, decreased stress, uplifted spirit, enhanced relaxation and concentration, and finding inner peace.

If this therapeutic way of dealing with stress is offered in every company, then that will make the workplace a bit friendly and stress free.

How Vacations Reduce Stress

Job issues, career paths, mortgages, debt and gas prices are some of the leading causes of stress effecting people around the world today. Vacations are very important to our physical and mental well being.

Whether the vacation is a weekend getaway or a full two-week vacation from everything stressful, make the most of it by doing nothing. Pay your bills before leaving home so you don’t have to worry about calling or going online to pay them while trying to relax. That’s the purpose of a vacation – to get away from it all. On the beach or an amusement park ride is not a good place for a cell phone or blackberry, leave those at home.

Sunshine

Sunshine can improve one’s mood, ward off depression, aid in sleep and even improve your sex life. Not only does the sun provide the skin with a healthy glow, it provides nutrients that essentially have a positive effect on many areas of life. Moderate sun exposure can raise vitamin D levels, reduces stress and helps our bodies recover from jet lag more quickly.

Fresh Air

Many people spend far more time indoors than outdoors. Sometimes this is not by choice. Demanding work or class schedules are leading reasons people spend most of their time indoors. Fresh air helps cleans our lungs better than any air purifier system available on the market today. Having the ability to breathe more easily increases the amount of oxygen provided to our cells. Increased oxygen means increased energy to do the things we need or want to do.

Play Time

Most adults do not take the time to play and enjoy themselves. Vacations provide a great opportunity to just let go and enjoy your time, whether on the beach or a theme park tour. Adults often ask how children have so much energy. Often the answer is simple, they take the time to play and enjoy life unlike their adult counterparts. The next time you take time for a vacation, make time to play and enjoy it.

Creativity

Don’t stick to a normal schedule when you’re on vacation! It is your vacation, your time off. Go to bed late and sleep late, enjoy breakfast in the afternoon or dinner at midnight. Be creative when planning one day to the next. Plan activities you enjoy. Don’t be worried about what others may think of your creative efforts, just enjoy your vacation.

Freedom

Vacations provide many forms of freedom; freedom from the 9 to 5, the commute, the office and best of all perhaps freedom from your alarm clock. Vacation time means no stressful schedule to maintain. Plan your vacation but do not make daily plans that take you out of your realm of relaxation. Vacation plans should include things you enjoy doing, not things you feel you need to do.

Relaxation

Brooks Gump, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology at Oswego said, ‘We concluded that skipping vacations could actually be dangerous to your health. Vacations have a protective effect because they help you reduce your load of stress, or at least allow you to take a break from the everyday stressors of the workplace.’

Researchers and doctors have assessed stress-related illnesses for years and the majority of them have come to the same conclusions; vacations are an essential part of maintaining good mental health as well as good physical health.

Vacation Locations Around the World

The British enjoy spending their vacation time in various locations in Spain and Europe. The Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Spain, Hungary and Italy are some of the more popular vacation destinations, and for winter time ski holidays too in France and Andorra. Low-cost airlines throughout Europe allow the opportunity for Europeans to plan shorter, more frequent vacations and weekend getaways.

Florida, the Caribbean and other coastal areas are some of North America’s most popular vacation destinations. Theme parks around the United States are great destinations for overnight or weekend getaways. Many adventurous vacations are also available throughout the United States.

Tribune have several European travel guides available on-line, including one for the ski country of Andorra at yourandorra.com which has details too of ski holiday in France availability.

They also have Andorra hotels and for the winter months an Andorra snow report

Lower Your Stress Levels Each Day

Stress begins in your mind as thoughts, but it can manifest itself physically. You may feel tense, anxious, uneasy, angry, or have aches and pains you can’t really find a cause for. If stress continues all the time and becomes chronic, your health could be compromised.

You can let stress go and feel good every day.

Try these strategies to lower your stress:

1. Focus on what matters to you. What’s important in your life? Be proactive about your goals and priorities. When you’re working toward something that you want, it makes you feel good about yourself and your future.

2. Find both physical and mental ways to release your stress. Releasing your stress every day keeps it from building up inside you. Make the conscious choice to start each day fresh, without the stress from the day before.

• What relaxes you? Music? Hobbies? Spending time with your family? Enjoy a healthy dose of relaxation every day.

• Get as much exercise as possible. Exercise refreshes your body with a surge of oxygen and releases endorphins, the “feel good” hormone. Even if there’s no time for an exercise session, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park far away from the building so you can walk, and play with your kids or pets.

3. Practice these strategies consistently. Work on releasing your stress every day, even on days when you don’t feel as much stress, so it won’t be a struggle when you really need it. When you’re feeling good, it’s natural to forget about letting stress go, but it’s important to avoid getting complacent.

• Keep practicing and improving, even when you feel great!

Whichever techniques you choose to calm your mind and lower your levels of stress, ensure it’s the right fit for you and your lifestyle. Only you know what you really need and what makes you feel safe and at peace.

If you practice this peacefulness each day, it won’t be long before you start to feel calmer, even in situations where you would have previously been over the edge. Your thoughts will be clearer, instead of jumbled and racing. Physically, you’ll feel stronger, too, because your body will be free from the affliction of stress and anxiety.

Natural Remedies for Reducing Stress

Stress is a normal part of everyday life. In fact, there are certain types of stress that are actually motivating and good for you. However, there are also bad types of stress that can build up and take over your life if you let it.

There are many treatment options to choose from when it comes to stress reduction. Turning to the help of natural remedies is a healthy choice, and many times it’ll help you to get to the root of your stress. When you know what causes your stress, you’ll be better able to recognize it and stop it from happening again in the future.

Here are some natural remedies that can help you reduce your stress:

1. Deep breathing techniques. Breathing deeply can work wonders when it comes to stress reduction. Your breathing is a connection between your conscious mind and the unconscious. When you’re stressed, you take more shallow and short breaths. Counteract the stress, relax your body, and calm your mind with long, deep breaths.

2. Herbal remedies. Stress-reducing herbs include valerian, passionflower, and kava-kava. These remedies double as remedies for problems, such as insomnia and anxiety, because stress is the most common cause of these ailments.

3. Watch what you put into your body. What you eat on a daily basis can directly affect the way you feel and have an impact on your stress levels. It’s important to eat nutritiously, maintain a balanced diet, and limit harmful substances such as caffeine, especially later on in the day.

4. Make extra time for yourself. When you’re stressed, you may feel like there’s just not enough time in the day to accomplish everything that you’d like. This might lead you to cut out doing things for yourself even though they’re vitally important. Go out of your way to make extra time for yourself to reduce your stress and rejuvenate your mind and body.

5. Take a warm bath. A warm bath is a great natural way to leave the stresses of the day behind you. You can increase your bath’s stress-reducing benefits by experimenting with different aromatherapies through soaps, bath oils, or candles.

6. Break your routine with a relaxing activity. Try something new and bring in some excitement by breaking your routine to pursue a relaxing activity. It’s a great way to relieve your stress and breathe new life into a dull day.

7. Maintain an exercise routine. Exercise is an excellent way to combat stress. It keeps your body fit and your brain active. Exercise also releases endorphins in the brain, which energize you and reduce your stress levels.

Try to get creative when it comes to discovering new ways to combat stress. Your main goal is to avoid getting caught up in your stress. Rather than letting stress run your life, make the decision to be the one in charge. You’ll soon be able to recognize when negative stress is taking over so you can turn to one of your natural remedies to banish it from your life for good!

Stress Management Techniques for Seniors

Stress is something nearly everyone has to deal with. You may not be able to do much about the things stressing you, but can you do something to help the senior citizens in your life? What stress management techniques for seniors can you pass along to help them?

Even though most seniors already know it, you may want to help them remember that managing stress is simply taking charge of the things in your life that you can control. This may mean managing a schedule that seems to have gotten out of control. It could also mean being sure to strive for balance in life rather than letting life run you ragged.

Help them identify what the stressors are in their life. Are they concerned about having enough money to live off of in their golden years? Can you go with them to speak with a financial advisor? They may be able to subdue some of the fears which are causing so much stress.

Are the seniors in your life stressed about their health? Go with them to their next doctor’s appointment and discuss their concerns with the doctor. They will likely be able to address those concerns or recommend they visit a specialist who can better help them. Their doctor may suggest they spend time with a psychologist to help them deal with the stressors they experience.

Suggest they take yoga classes to help them manage their stress. Yoga will teach them to improve their posture, learn to breathe properly, and may help them become more limber. Another benefit to learning yoga is that it helps the body relax, which means they’ll learn to manage the stress they feel.

Meditation is another stress management technique seniors may want to try. Once they learn to meditate, they will find their heart rate slows, their blood pressure lowers, and they’ll be taking in more oxygen. All of these things lead seniors to manage their stress in a more effective way.

Have you always liked to put together jigsaw puzzles? There’s something very relaxing about putting puzzles together. They can concentrate on the puzzle alone which may make the stress seniors feel less of a problem.

Suggest they stay away from people who cause them stress. Perhaps they have a neighbor that bothers them and wants to borrow tools all the time. They can learn to say ‘no’ when a request is made, or simply refuse to answer the door. If they’re able to avoid the stressor they won’t be affected by it.

They may want to downsize their home. Even though your parents may have lived in the same home their entire married life, if they’re in a two-story home and neither can climb stairs very well, it might be time to move to a one-floor home. The thoughts of moving may cause stress, especially if they have years of accumulated things, but they may feel a sense of freedom once they’re in a new, smaller home.

No one wants to be affected by stress, particularly when they’re supposed to be headed to their golden years. There are many stress management techniques for seniors to try. Encourage them to try several methods until they find the one that’s best for them.
